11/08/02 SavageLane.com/BeantownMeltdown.com Press Release The second night of the Beantown Meltdown semi-finals is hosted by Bill Restuccia, publisher of Soundcheck Magazine. In attendance are Mike C. of SavageLane.com/Bonescrew Management (check him out in the Jan. issue of High Times Magazine), Theresa Francis, Stephanie Marino, among a whole crew from Soundcheck Magazine, the Local Mix.com, Phil and Jade (former RadioBoston.com), and Brian Miller, Plank 63's manager. Also other bands checking out the show are members of Moontide, Down 2 Zero, Bonescrew, Madwack, Dryft, and 7th Rail Crew. No One's Kind opens the night with a strong set of hard rock. A very tight band that has a young following of loyal fans. No One's Kind gets a great response from an early crowd. Downshaft, a young hard core band are having a lot of fun. Tonight their lead singer is in full costume with a cheesy black wig. Using a lot of four letter words, with his mother in attendance no less, the lead singer rips apart and then dedicates a vile number to his father's new girlfriend. Downshaft are having a good time and their crowd eats it up. Peace Music changes the dynamic of the night with polished rock music. The have the deepest crowd of the night out front and many of them sing along to the bands songs. Guitarist Dave Torrisi gets a lot of cheers from the audience for his superb playing. Scamper, a four piece alternative rock act have a decidedly Weezerish sound. Goodtimes is really packed now with 300 plus people rocking along to Scamper's songs. Mekanizm is a gothic looking hard rock act. The band has some great samples that sets the tone for their set and puts their fans at attention. Lots of lovely ladies up front for Mekanizm. The ladies do love them. Emptyhead a hard rock metal band from Portland, Maine feature two guitarists and phenomenal musicianship. A veteran act with a great show.
